BOAT STORAGE - TERMS & CONDITIONS

Boat Storage is at the discretion of the Management Committee. Boats in storage on the grounds must be on a trailer (with jockey wheel) that can easily be moved for whatever purpose as the need arises. Boats must be left in an orderly condition and with masts up and all halyards secured to eliminate wind noise and annoyance to neighbours.

TERMS

  • Storage sites are declared vacant at the end of each sailing season.
  • The annual boat storage fee is set by the Management Committee.
  • Boat storage sites will be allocated only on acceptance and receipt of membership and storage fees.
  • A key is available for a refundable deposit of $50.
  • Boat storage site fees are not transferable and non-refundable (except as denoted on the membership form).

ELIGIBILITY

  • Eligibility for storage sites is determined by the participation in the Club's events.
  • Boats in storage are expected to participate in no less than 12 events scheduled per the Summer Sailing Season to be eligible for any discount Storage Fees.
  • Members are expected to show cause if eligibility cannot be maintained.
  • The Management Committee will conduct reviews of eligibility every six months.
  • The Management Committee will have the controlling decision over any eligibility dispute.
  • Where a number of applicants of equal eligibility are seeking a limited number of storage sites, the decision will be made by the Management Committee as to allocation of sites.

CONDITIONS

  • All boats are stored at the owner’s risk and the club accepts no liability for any loss or damage.
  • All boats are stored under the understanding that from time to time boats may be required to be moved to allow for mowing or cleaning of the boat storage area or any other reason that might arise.
  • Members are responsible for keeping their area clean and tidy, this includes mowing underneath their boats.
  • Trailer, jockey wheels and tow ball couplings are to be kept pumped up and in good repair (including greasing at least annually).
  • All boats stored in the yard must be stored on a trailer or trolley so they can be moved when necessary.
  • All boats stored in the yard might be required to be removed from the yard during the Peel Island Marathon week-end. Should removal be required, boats must be removed by the Saturday morning preceding the Peel Island Race Day by 10am. Boats can be returned after 5:30pm on the Peel Island Race Day.

FEES

  • The boat storage fee is $1,400 per annum per boat.
  • Special discount on boat storage fee: the boat storage fee will be discounted to $470 for the subsequent year’s storage fees where the member has participated in 12 sanctioned racing/sailing/working bee days during the season.
  • For members who have regularly sailed the previous season, the discounted amount of $470 may be available at the start of the season at the discretion of the Management Committee.
  • Storage fees must be paid in advance unless alternate arrangements have been made with the Management Committee.
