The Starting Sequence

 

Flag Countdown Description
Port   When the start boat is on station, the red port course flag or the green starboard course flag will be displayed
PortClass 5 minutes Warning Signal. When your class and course flags are raised you have 5 minutes to the start. There will be an audible sound signal
PortClass 4 minutes Preparatory signal. The I flag will be raised. There will be an audible sound signal. At this point you are "racing" and subject to the racing rules of sailing.
PortClass 1 minute The I flag will be dropped. There will be a long audible sound signal
Port start Your course and class flag will be dropped. There will be an audible sound signal

Recalls

 

Individual Recall Flag. There will be an audible sound signal and the boat hailed.
General Recall Flag. There will be an audible sound signal and eveyone must return to the start.
